I dont have any C&D blends in my regular rotation. It's the pure red VA spice. The fruitiness is more reminiscent of lush plums than citrus; any ''zest'' is a good pace behind. This is the #1 so far. Sad sad sad. It is amazingly sweet for red VA, but it is also fairly pungent (like the tin note), and these contrasting qualities balance this blend beautifully. I believe I'm unlikely to find a better Virginia Flake. A really great straight shooter tobacco and it's easy to see why many revel in it. The fruitiness becomes bolder as each bowl progressed as did the spice level. The only thing I differ on from what Jim notes is that it is fairly complex. The nic hit to me is more on the medium to strong side. I often feel like I unlock a next level of complexity when I push the smoke through my soft palate, but it didn't answer.
